Children start learning numbers from every day experiences. As kids grow, they encounter associations like a single mitten to a single hand, a single fork to a single place mat and a single biscuit for one kid. Then they go on to be able to connect a number with one object. Lastly as they play with checking sets of objects, kids start to possess a number sense for that number. Check out the thoughts below to readily integrate number sense activities with your pupils. Daily checking activities: Count name tags to see just how many women are absent, how many boys, just how many are present etc.
Count the boys, then the women, how many all together. Count just how many words are in each type of the pocket chart. Count pencils, scissors, adhesive sticks as you pass them out. Measure things with blocks, then count just how many blocks. Give each kid a paper plate and possess the craft supplies in individual bowls on the table, then say. Put 5 poms on the paper plate, now put 5 icicles sticks, 5 stars, etc. Glue the sets of 5 things on the paper to make a Spring image. Incorporate learning numbers and operation encounters into step-by step drawings. Amount 6 – draw a circle as large as your paper, this is the pizza, now attract 6 pieces of cheese on the pizza, attract 6 tomato slices on the pizza, 6 pieces of pineapple etc.
Draw 2 red apples on a single tree, 3 green on the other, just how many apples all together? Activities to help kids recognize numbers 0 – 9 Play card games.
